When we inherited my parent’s garden, we also became custodians of my Mother’s varied fuchsia collection. She loved fuchsias and we now own many varieties both in pots and in the ground. At this time of year they are at their best, flowering beautifully in so many shades of white through to dark purple, some flowers are tiny and delicate, others are big and bold.
Fuchsias originate from South America primarily, they grow in the Andes from the Tierra Del Fuego in the far south right up to Colombia and Venezuala in the north. They are also found in New Zealand and Tahiti apparently, definitely a southern hemisphere plant when occurring naturally in the wild.
